Education
CFMRI faculty and staff are deeply committed to education and training activities. Formal courses in functional neuroimaging are offered in the CFMRI, complemented by weekly lab seminars, and regular discussions on specific topics involving all faculty members, post-doctoral fellows and technical staff.
The CFMRI provides an exceptional training environment for graduates, undergraduates and postdoctoral scholars. Currently, graduate students from the Department of Bioengineering and the School of Medicine are in residence at the CFMRI conducting dissertation research under the guidance of the core faculty members. In addition, post-doctoral scholars supported by faculty research or training grants are conducting mentored research projects at the Center. The Center has trained postdoctoral researchers who have subsequently moved onto other positions at UCSD or have been successful in securing positions at other MR imaging facilities within the US and abroad, or senior research positions in industry.
The Center also attracts visiting scholars from renowned universities overseas who come here to conduct research and to expand their knowledge of fMRI techniques drawing on the significant pool of expertise and imaging resources at the Center.
